19. When I Get To Heaven's Deep Blue
(McGowan)

This was really just a demo that I threw together - then I couldn't be bothered doing it again so the original stuck. I added some backing vocals and Jore added a mandolin in the middle to cover up my rather pedestrian instrumental passage. At 52 this is my philosophy these days. --Davy

And so soon we are at the ending track of the box. But it was worth to wait for the best, wasn't it? --Jore

Life has its fair share of trouble and strife
Life is a series of ordeals
You start off with plans for dining a la carte
And end up being served meals on wheels

Oh let there be wine, let there be song
Let there be fine women too
And let there be whisky and free cigarettes
When I get to heaven's deep blue

The pleasures of youth are a treasure it's true
But oh how the shine quickly fades
One minute you find you're the belle of the ball
The next you end up an old maid

Age may bring wisdom, though I'm not so sure
For there's no fool like an old fool they say
And I do my best to live up to those words
Each night and every day

So here's to a time when I'll be here no more
It's a day that will surely come
May it find me at peace with a glass in me hand
Sat at the bar on me bum
