4. Alistair
(Heikkilä-McGowan)

There have been many times when Jore has e-mailed me to write a poem - which I do - and then 6 months later he sends it back as a recording ...and I've no idea what it is. Poor Alistair - sorry I couldn't give you a happier ending. --Davy

Born of frustration in Fenchurch Street Station
Alistair dabbled in debt
And bonds of the kind that make men lose their mind
Leaving suicide as their best bet

Twas on a grey day on the twelve day of May
When Alistair said, 'The game's up',
'I've just lost the whole lot on the weather being hot
And there's snow falling in my teacup'.

He laughed first at life, then he laughed at death too
Then he laughed at how simply absurd
All existence now seemed, as if something he'd dreamed
Had turned flesh into simply a word

'I was born on a train in the fast falling rain
And I'm damned if I'll die on one too.'
With those few words of rage he climbed into the cage
Where the polar bears live in the zoo.
