3. Shenandoah
(amer. traditional)
Listen to Shenandoah:

A track by Jore that I remember from the 1965 James Stewart western of the same name. Shenandoah is a town in Page County, Virginia, United States. The town was founded in 1837 by two brothers, Daniel and Henry Forrer. The word "Shenandoah" is of Native American origin and means "daughter of the stars"...maybe the daughter of Donovan's 'Lady of The Stars', so maybe it means Astrella - or maybe I better shut up. I always associate this tune with The American Civil War because of the film - but apparently it was a popular sea shanty in Britain as well. --Davy

This version of Shenandoah is very much based on the one where Alisa Jones (dulcimer, autoharp) and her fellow musician partners play. They have produced a whole bunch of instrumental music, mostly played on bluegrass style, but also irish, christmas & religion music are presented. Very easy, relaxing and catchy. So go and check Alisa Jones! --Jore
