14. Lampaanpolska (The Merry Sheep Reel)
(trad)

Jesus - I'm full of rytke! Did I put it here also? This has been an orvot instrumental for years and I decided to sing it when I brought it back to life. Lampaanpolska is one of the best known Finnish traditional songs, however it turns out to be based on the Portuguese "Folia"(!). I wonder about the English name - the reel itself doesn't seem to be very merry, so maybe it was the sheep. --Jore

Great title. Doesn't sound too merry to me but maybe it's like Jore says and it's the sheep not the reel who are merry. --Davy

Yksi, kaksi, kolme, neljä.
Anna iloinen olla.
Koska suru tulee tulee,
anna hänen mennä.

Paarmat ne laulaa,
neljä hiirtä hyppelee,
kissi lyöpi trummun päälle.
Koko maailma pauhaa!

translation:

One, two, three, four,
let me be happy,
when the sorrow comes,
let it pass away

Horseflies are singing,
four mouses are jumping,
a cat hits the drum,
all the world is roaring!
