09. My Slapping Day (Heikkilä)
/In Vernali Tempore (trad.)

Yeah... I had an idea of slapping my skin and making rhythms out of that. The original name was 'Skin Slap Rumble' but Davy got so excited by that name that he wanted to change the box name from 'Smokin' ' to it. The scratching sound is me scratching my hairy belly. Yuck!

'In Vernali Tempore' is a medieval Finnish traditional song - although here in Latin - I found funny to place into the back of my slapping session. My music teacher Osmo Hietala (RIP) taught it to our class at about 5th grade. --Jore

Surely an original concept to scratch his hairy belly? Is it too much information - probably - but it could have been worse! Great harmonies in the Gregorian chant of the Latin part. Who needs a drum machine when you have thighs to slap. --Davy

1. In vernali tempore
Ortu laetabundo
Dum recedunt frigora,
Nunciat hirundo:
Terrae, maris, nemoris
Decus adest deforis
Renovato mundo,
Vigor redit corporis,
Cedit dolor pectoris
Tempore iucundo.

2. Terra viret floribus
Et nemus virore,
Aves mulcent cantibus
Et vocis dulcore,
Aqua tempestatibus
Caret, aer imbribus,
Dulci plenus rore,
Sol consumptis nubibus
Radiis patentibus
Lucet cum dulcore.
