Aleksis Kivi, hän
kirjoitti Seitsemän
Veljestä sekä muutaman
muunkin näytelmän

Tää Werner Söderström
osakeyhtiön
perusti, muttei aivan
alta aikayksikön

Kai turhaan nimeään
mä huudan pimeään
ääneen kimeään
mutten tänään,
ei, ei, ei tänään

Ei Urkki kalassa
käynyt kuin salassa,
jos oli hällä naisten
korkokengät jalassa

Litmanen pukkasi,
rankkarin hukkasi.
Niin valmentaja huusi:
pese pelisukkasi!

Taas turhaan nimeään
mä huudan pimeään
ääneen kimeään
mutten tänään,
ei, ei, ei tänään

No onneksi olkoon!
Se hälle suotakoon:
On Lönnrot vainaa vihdoin
päässyt televisioon

Tunsitko Leskisen?
Siis Juice Leskisen?
Hän ei ole leski sen
Vesa Keskisen.

Vaan turhaan nimiään
mie huuvan pimiään,
iäneen kimiään
ja juuri tänään,
joo, joo, juuri tänään.

Translation:
Aleksis Kivi, he
Wrote The Seven
Brothers and a couple
Of other plays, too.

This Werner Söderström,
A corporation
He founded, but not
'faster than a time unit'

I guess I'm in vain
Yelling his name in the dark
With a strident voice,
But not today,
No, no, not today

Urkki never fished
Except secretly
If he was wearing
Women's high-heels.

Litmanen pushed,
Missed a penalty kick.
So the coach yelled:
Wash your own football socks!

Again I'm in vain
Yelling his name in the dark
With a strident voice,
But not today,
No, no, not today.

Gongratulations!
We can allow him this:
The late Lönnrot at last
Has got into TV.

Did you know Leskinen?
That is Juice Leskinen.
He wasn't a widower of that
Vesa Keskinen.

Still I'm in vain
Yelling their name in the dark
With a strident voice,
And right today,
Yes, yes, right today.

Elias Lönnrot (1802 - 1884) is best known for collecting poems to Kalevala, the finnish national epic. Juice Leskinen (1950 - 2006) was a very popular musician, singer-songwriter, poet and a translator. Vesa Keskinen (1967 - ) is best known as a keeper of the Finland's biggest village shop in the Southern Ostrobothnia. He is often on tabloids headline, too. Usually for finding a new girlfriend or splitting up. Or to be charged for something. --Jore Always good to hear some Finnish. Jore sounds as if he had a happy time recording this --Davy
