Here it comes again, yeah it's right on time
Gimme the pen and show me where to sign
I'll have some of this and some of that
Just hand me down my cane yeah and my old man's hat

One for sorrow, two for joy
Three for making out with Myrna Loy
Four for wishing, five for kicks
And a bottle of whisky for 1966

It's a blot on the landscape, a sign of the times
An old blind beggar singing nursery rhymes
It's so hard to handle, so plain to see
Would you stand in my shoes if you were me?

You say 'settle down', that's all right for you
You don't see the things that I do
You say 'chill on out' like it's the only way
And it'll all pan out on Judgement Day

It's a close run thing, it's all on the nod
It's right down to the wire in the name of God
Got my nerves strung out, they're at concert pitch
If I only had the money I'd be a sonofabitch

Here's a howdy do and there's a howdy don't
Here's a way you will and there's a way you won't
You may fool them all, you know you can't fool me
I saw you pee your pants back in 1963

09. Stand In My Shoes
(McGowan) Hey, this is more rock than blues. Someone is playing piano. Not so good as Tuomas would but better than me for sure. Safe choice, nothing to be scared of. --Jore Rock? Could be! Mark plays keyboards and bass. He says it sounds like The Band - is that a good thing? I had about 30 verses for this - words were filling my head so fast I had to stop before the rhymes drove me insane. --Davy
