Oo, I bet you're wond'ring how I knew
About your plans to make me blue
With some other guy that you knew before?
Between the two of us guys, you know I love you more.
It took me by surprise, I must say
When I found out yesterday.

Oo, I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine.
Oo, I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind.
Honey, honey yeah.

You know that a man ain't supposed to cry
But these tears I can't hold inside.
Losin' you'd end my life you see
'Cause you mean that much to me.
You could have told me yourself
That you found someone else.

Instead I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine.
Oo, I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind.
Honey, honey yeah.

People say "Believe half of what you see
Son and none of what you hear."
I can't help bein' confused
If it's true, won't you tell me dear?
Do you plan to let me go
For the other guy that you knew before?

Oo, I heard it through the grapevine
Not much longer would you be mine.
Oo, I heard it through the grapevine
And I'm just about to lose my mind.
Honey, honey yeah.

06. I Heard It Through The Grapevine
(Gaye) Marvin Gaye's great track, made famous (at least to me) by Creedence Clearwater Revival. I had recently followed after Davy's footsteps and bought myself a real guitanjo (Guitar with banjo sound). You will hear that much more in this collection. Somehow - if I may say so - my sad voice fits to this track. Guy is about to lose his girlfriend. John Fogerty has most of the time been very hard for my ears to make any sense of the words, so I believed easily to whatever crap I found from the net. But as usual, Davy helped me again by sending if not - but probably - correct, then at least more sensemaking lyrics. --Jore Well this is certainly a 'different' version. I've never heard CCR singing this but I like Marvin Gay's original. Jore captures the melancholy nature of the song in a way only a Finn could. --Davy
