Yellow is the colour of my true love's hair
In the mornin' when we rise,
In the mornin' when we rise,
That's the time, that's the time,
I love the best.

Blue's the colour of the sky
In the mornin' when we rise,
In the mornin' when we rise.
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best.

Green's the colour of the sparklin' corn
In the mornin' when we rise,
In the mornin' when we rise.
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best.

Mellow is the feeling that I get
when I see her, mm hmm,
when I see her, uh huh.
That's the time, that's the time
I love the best.

Freedom is a word I rarely use
Without thinkin', mm hmm,
Without thinkin', mm hmm,
Of the time, of the time
When I've been loved.

12. Colours
(Leitch) One of Donovan's well known songs with the weirdest chords and arrangement you have ever heard. That's what happens when you get an octave mandolin in your hands and start to set your fingers on new places. I can't tell what chords I'm using but I can draw them if anyone needs to know. The spoken names of the other colours are from "Wear Your Love Like Heaven". As if you wouldn't know. --Jore Yep - weird. It's as if a semi-drunk 65 year old Donovan is singing this in his sleep. There's a dreamlike quality about the chord progression and Jore's voice. Very strange - but I like it and I give it 10 out of 10 for being so adventurous. --Davy
