Kun satakieli laulaa, livertää
niin mieleni mun täyttää tuttu kaipuu
Nään puron luona sinut vierelläin
Ja koivun oksat suojaksemme taipuu

Taas lauluaan käy laulamaan
tuo lintu rakkauden
kun ilta saa ja purppuraa
on tiellä muistojen
kun ilta saa ja purppuraa
on tiellä muistojen

On satakielen laulu kaunis niin,
se täynnä onhan lumoavaa taikaa
Me tunteistamme silloin vaettiin
Nyt siitä on jo liian paljon aikaa

Taas lauluaan käy laulamaan
tuo lintu rakkauden
kun ilta saa ja purppuraa
on tiellä muistojen
kun ilta saa ja purppuraa
on tiellä muistojen

Koivu ehkä lahonnut jo lie
ja puro lailla nuoruutemme haihtui
On satakielen laulu ainut tie
nyt sinne, missä toiveet eroon vaihtui

Taas lauluaan käy laulamaan
tuo lintu rakkauden
kun ilta saa ja purppuraa
on tiellä muistojen
kun ilta saa ja purppuraa
on tiellä muistojen

transatlantics:

When the nightingale sings and warbles
Familiar yearning fills my mind
I see you beside me by the brook
And the branches of the birch bend to cover us

Once again the love bird
Starts to sing it's song
When the evening comes and there is purple
On the road of memories
When the evening comes and there is purple
On the road of memories

The nightingales singing is so beautiful
Well, it's full of enchanting magic
We were silent about our feelings back then
Now too much time have past

Once again the love bird
Starts to sing it's song
When the evening comes and there is purple
On the road of memories
When the evening comes and there is purple
On the road of memories

Maybe the birch is rotten by now
And that brook has gone dry
The nightingales song is the only way now
To where the wishes were changed to parting

Once again the love bird
Starts to sing it's song
When the evening comes and there is purple
On the road of memories
When the evening comes and there is purple
On the road of memories

9. Satakieli
(Finnish; unknown) This is also very reminiscent of Leonard Cohen. A very atmospheric lacrimose melody with lovely harmonies and a soulful violin. Excellent! --Davy

Tuomas and Tarja did this many years ago on tj band album Rakkauslauluja (Love songs), this time Tuomas sings it with Ilona, in some lower key though. I don't know who has written this, probably it's not a trad track. I remember this being very special song to Tuomas mom, we did this for her. Maybe some tears were shed, easy to imagine. --Jore
