apinanleipäpuussa
on apinalla leipää suussa
ja murusia paidalla
jossain afrikan laidalla
kuumalla mantereella

ei leijona ketään kiinni saa
vaikka puun alla kuinka se odottaa
reppana aikaansa tuhlaa
kun apinat viettävät juhlaa
puussansa korkeella

pimeässä silmät vilkkuvat
ja apinat leijonaa ilkkuvat
on kai se aika tuhmaa
kun avoimesti uhmaa
eläinten kuningasta

ei jouduta kissan suuhun
jos tehdään leipomo puuhun
apinat pähkäilivät
ja sitten ne veijarit perustivat
leipomon haaraliikkeen
siis oksanhaaraliikkeen
afrikan laidalle

apinanleipäpuussa
on apinalla leipää suussa
ja murusia paidalla
jossain afrikan laidalla
kuumalla mantereella

transland:

In a baobab tree
A Monkey have bread in his mouth
And some crumbs in his shirt
Somewhere in the side of Africa
In the hot continent

The lion cannot catch anyone
No matter how much it waits under the tree
Poor thing is wasting it's time
When monkeys are celebrating
Up in the high tree

Eyes are glowing in the dark
And the monkeys are mocking
I guess it's pretty naughty
To openly defy
The king of animals

We won't get into the cat's mouth
If we built a bakery up in the tree
The monkeys pondered
And then those buggers built
A branch of a bakery
To the branch of a tree
In the side of Africa

In a baobab tree
A Monkey have bread in his mouth
And some crumbs in his shirt
Somewhere in the side of Africa
In the hot continent

(Heikkilä) Monkeys baking bread in a boabab tree? I think Jore has smuggled some Mescaline in for himself here! TARJA sings it with a devil-may-care attitude to the lyric and, let's face it, this is fun! --Davy

The idea to the song came of the Monkey Bread Tree which is a boabab tree's Finnish name. What do the monkeys do in their own tree, eating bread? How are they having it? Maybe they are having a bakery up in the tree? -- Jore
