Mary my dear, do you recall
The Count of Monte Christo's ball
The ladies all dressed up in lace
And you fell down flat on your face

The blood stained floor was soon repaired
As were your breasts, which had been bared,
But Fate dealt you her cruellest blows
As blood still poured from out your nose

Ah, what a night for love's sweet dance!
I grabbed your arm and took my chance
How could I know twas broke in two
Until I heard the screams from you

Mary my dear, I love you still
Despite the fact you're always ill
Come fill my glass and wipe your tears
You're good for another 30 years.

16. The Ball
(Heikkilä - McGowan) I find difficult to say anything about this. Except this poem should have got better music for it. -- Jore

I think the music fits it very well - like a medieval dance played on a hurdy gurdy. -- Davy
