In the cradle of the deep, I don't lose no sleep
Cause the Lord ain't got nothin' on me
In the misty mists of time, I just sit and drink my wine
Cause the Lord ain't got nothin' on me
No the Lord ain't got nothin' on me

I heard it all before, I don't listen any more
Cause the Lord ain't got nothin' on me
These are evil days, when even saints got evil ways
But the Lord ain't got nothin' on me
No the Lord ain't got nothin' on me

I'm living in the past, where nothin's built to last
And the Lord ain't got nothin' on me
You know I get second sight when I get drunk at night
But the Lord ain't got nothin' on me
No the Lord ain't got nothin' on me

(McGowan) Sad, bluesy, probably personal (?) thoughts dressed up into a song, which have quite interesting atmosphere. -- Jore

Personal? Well I suppose there are personal things in most of my songs. I remember reading a John Martyn interview where he said he didn't need to write a diary or an autobiography because his life and emotions were all in his songs. I had to play the piano in this as Mark couldn't do it! -- Davy
